As Valorant continues attracting major esports organizations, Ninjas in Pyjamas has executed comprehensive roster restructuring to establish competitive presence. The Swedish organization’s strategic moves reflect the escalating competition within the tactical shooter landscape.

Ninjas in Pyjamas emerged among the pioneering European esports entities entering Valorant, transitioning their Paladins competitive squad to Riot Games’ flagship title. Following the dissolution of that initial lineup, management secured talents Emir “rhyme” Muminovic and Niels “luckeRRR” Jasiek, both previously serving as NiP substitutes. This foundation expanded with three additional promising acquisitions to build depth.

The coaching position completes with Jonas “eMIL” Gundersen assuming head coach responsibilities, bringing strategic oversight to the developing roster.

In the formal announcement, eMIL expressed this opportunity represented a lifelong ambition to join Ninjas in Pyjamas. He committed fully to dedicating his energy and expertise toward Valorant coaching excellence.

“Representing Ninjas in Pyjamas as a Swedish competitor brings immense personal pride while transforming aspirations into tangible achievement,” eMIL emphasized.

I’m looking for a Head Coach for our Valorant squad, to come assist me in building the worlds best team. An incredibly exciting time in this game right now. Welcome @rhymeVAL and @luckeRRR_ – let’s do it!

Thanks to the old squad for their contributions! https://t.co/42vaClyKiA

eMIL launched his professional gaming career four years prior as a flex tank specialist within Overwatch competitive circuits. During 2019, he secured positions with Angry Titans before advancing to North American Contenders squad Gladiators Legion. This lineup dissolved following conclusion of the 2019 Overwatch competitive season.

Following this period, eMIL returned to his native Sweden. He transitioned to Valorant, where he constructed and mentored a competitive roster featuring his twin sibling alongside former Overwatch teammates. This collective, eventually known as FABRIKEN, showed significant potential but ultimately failed to secure organizational backing. The team separated shortly thereafter, with most members including eMIL’s brother joining FunPlus Phoenix.

eMIL subsequently joined bonk, achieving second place at LVL Valorant Clash 2 tournament. Their victory against established contender Team Liquid positioned eMIL and his team within competitive recognition.

eMIL’s inaugural competition representing Ninjas in Pyjamas occurred at BLAST Valorant Twitch Invitational, marking the tournament organizer’s premiere Valorant event. Despite elimination by Team Liquid, the Swedish organization demonstrated competitive fundamentals while missing qualification for the €50,000 prize distribution.

The coaching appointment reflects broader industry trends where organizations prioritize strategic leadership alongside player talent development. Successful Valorant teams typically balance individual mechanical skill with coordinated tactical execution, requiring coaches who understand both strategic macro-play and individual development needs.

For teams building competitive presence, establishing clear role definitions and communication structures proves critical during early development phases. Common missteps include overemphasizing individual performance without establishing team synergy foundations.

Advanced team development strategies involve creating adaptable tactical systems that can adjust to evolving meta-game shifts while maintaining core strategic identity.

Action Checklist

  • Analyze roster composition for role coverage and strategic flexibility
  • Establish clear communication protocols between coaching staff and players
  • Develop adaptable tactical systems that accommodate meta-game evolution
  • Create individual development plans addressing both mechanical skills and game sense
