  • 22 Mythic items provide class-specific power spikes with unique mythic passives
  • Kraken Slayer offers anti-tank capabilities through true damage procs

Riot Games has maintained consistent communication with the player base through multiple developer updates, building anticipation for these revolutionary changes.

Over five detailed blog posts preceded this comprehensive reveal, with the sixth installment focusing specifically on the new Mythic and Legendary item categories that will reshape champion builds.

This extensive developer post outlines numerous new additions, though players should note these remain subject to modification during the six-week PBE testing phase before live server deployment.

Mythic Items for 2021 LoL Preseason

Mythic items represent the pinnacle of equipment choices, restricted to a single selection per build that fundamentally determines your champion’s combat identity.

With 22 distinct Mythic items spanning all champion classes, these centerpiece items provide transformative power that scales throughout the game.

Each class receives specialized Mythic options including Marksman, Tank, Mage, and Assassin variants, each designed to enable distinct strategic approaches.

Kraken Slayer (marksman)

  • 3400 gold
  • +60 attack damage
  • +25% attack speed
  • +20% critical strike chance

Harpoon:Every third Attack is enhanced, dealing an additional true damage

Mythic Passive:Grants all other Legendary items +10% Attack Speed.

Kraken Slayer establishes itself as the premier tank-busting solution for marksmen, combining essential offensive statistics with a devastating true damage mechanism.

This item becomes particularly menacing against composition featuring multiple durable frontliners, enabling sustained damage dealers to melt through even the toughest opponents.

Sunfire Aegis (tank)

  • 3200 gold
  • +450 health
  • +30 armor
  • +30 magic resist
  • +15 ability haste

Immolate:Deal magic damage per second to nearby enemies. Damaging enemy champions or epic monsters adds a stack, increasing Immolate damage for five seconds.

Radiance:At max stacks, basic attacks explode around you, burning nearby enemies for your Immolate damage for 3 seconds.

Mythic Passive:Grants all other legendary items +5 Ability Haste.

Sunfire Aegis elevates the classic Sunfire Cape concept to new heights, granting tanks unprecedented wave control capabilities alongside comprehensive defensive attributes.

The persistent area damage effect presents challenges for champions attempting to maintain frozen lanes, as the passive will inevitably push waves through minion attrition.

Duskblade of Draktharr (ad assassin)

  • 3200 gold
  • +55 attack damage
  • +18 lethality
  • +25 ability haste

Dusk:Attacking an enemy champion deals additional physical damage and slows. When a champion you have damaged within the last three seconds is killed, reset this cooldown and gain invisibility for 1.5 seconds.

Mythic Passive:Grants all other legendary items +5 ability haste.

AD assassins gain access to multiple Mythic possibilities including Duskblade of Draktharr, which enables snowball potential through elimination-triggered stealth periods.

New Legendary Items Added in 2021 LoL Preseason

Beyond the revolutionary Mythic system, Riot introduces substantial Legendary item updates including both new creations and returning classics.

Several established items face retirement including Frozen Mallet, Hextech Gunblade, and Statikk Shiv, items deemed beyond salvageable redesign according to developer assessment.

The refreshed Legendary lineup incorporates innovative mechanics while welcoming back Force of Nature after its extended absence from the game.

Force of Nature

  • 2900 gold
  • +350 health
  • +55 magic resist
  • +7% move speed

Rhythm of Ionia:Taking ability damage grants move speed and magic resist for five seconds. This stacks up to five times.

Navori Quickblade

  • 3400 gold
  • +60 attack damage
  • +20% critical strike chance
  • +30 ability haste

Nimble Strikes:Critical strikes with attacks reduce non-ultimate ability cooldowns by 20% of their remaining cooldown.

The comprehensive item system transformation enters PBE testing immediately, remaining available for player experimentation and feedback collection throughout the six-week evaluation window.

Action Checklist

  • Test multiple Mythic items for your main champions during PBE phase
  • Analyze enemy team compositions to determine optimal Mythic counter-building
  • Practice last-hitting with Sunfire Aegis to maintain lane control
  • Experiment with Legendary item combinations that maximize Mythic passive benefits
