C9’s Blaber says EG still not a threat after losing to them

TL;DR

  • Cloud9’s jungler Blaber identifies poor rotations and overaggressive play as key issues
  • Team Liquid emerges as primary threat while Evil Geniuses not viewed as long-term concern
  • Team attributes recent struggles to internal performance decline rather than opponent improvement
  • Confidence remains high for upcoming FlyQuest match despite back-to-back losses
  • Focus shifts to calculated gameplay and fixing current split problems over championship pressure

Cloud9 suffered their second consecutive LCS defeat, falling to Evil Geniuses in a surprising upset.

Following their dominant Spring Split performance where they dominated the competition, the League of Legends community has been questioning Cloud9’s recent inconsistent form. However, jungler Robert “Blaber” Huang assured WIN.gg that the team’s foundation remains solid despite temporary setbacks.

How are you processing the immediate aftermath of today’s match?

Blaber: Naturally, I’m disappointed with the loss outcome. However, this match provides substantial learning material we can leverage for future improvement.

Does your measured response indicate these are correctable issues rather than systemic problems?

While not simple fixes, we’ve identified multiple strategic adjustments that will strengthen our gameplay moving forward.

Our map movements and rotation timing were suboptimal throughout the match. During the second dragon contest, my teamfight execution lacked precision. Targeting the Syndra would have created a decisive advantage. Earlier bot lane control reestablishment represents another critical adjustment area.

Which organizations currently pose the most significant competitive challenge?

Team Liquid represents our primary competition currently. We’re essentially tied in the standings from my understanding. They’re absolutely in the championship conversation. Beyond them, the threat landscape appears less defined.

Despite their victory today, you don’t consider Evil Geniuses a legitimate contender?

Possibly, but I remain unconvinced about their long-term viability. We’re experiencing a temporary performance dip across recent matches.

What factors do you attribute this performance fluctuation to?

The root cause remains unclear. However, our current playstyle may involve excessive confidence or uncontrolled aggression compared to our previous disciplined approach. This has potentially hampered our development trajectory.

Is Cloud9’s performance declining or have opposing teams elevated their gameplay?

Opposing squads have demonstrably improved since the previous competitive season. However, I don’t believe they’ve made dramatic improvements specifically this past week. Our own performance level has significantly dropped recently.

What’s your prediction for tomorrow’s match against FlyQuest?

I anticipate we’ll return to form. Victory should be within our capabilities.

What evidence supports this confident outlook despite recent results?

Personally, I’ve never experienced consecutive losses before, and Cloud9 historically avoids extended losing streaks. Additionally, our fundamental skill level remains high. Today represented poor execution from us combined with strong play from Evil Geniuses.

We’re playing really bad right now but tomorrow will be better.

What specific areas will the team prioritize during practice sessions this week?

We’ll concentrate on adopting safer positioning strategies and implementing more deliberate, calculated decision-making during matches.

Does the team feel additional pressure following their dominant Spring Split performance?

External pressure doesn’t significantly impact our mindset. We’re primarily focused on resolving our current competitive issues within this split.

Which three teams currently rank at the LCS summit?

Realistically, Cloud9, Team Liquid, and TSM comprise the current top tier.

Action Checklist

  • Analyze VODs to identify specific rotation timing errors and communication breakdowns
  • Implement calculated aggression protocols during scrims to balance risk vs reward
  • Establish early game bot lane control procedures to prevent snowball scenarios
  • Develop target priority frameworks for teamfight execution against various compositions
